Sabag
Events Director / Studio coordinator
Born in Campbell Ca.in1946 and was introduced to art by her grandfather. She would sit with him while he told her stories as he drew caricatures for her. Frances moved to Miami Beach and continued to study the world of art including pottery and sculpture at Miami Dade. She Attended Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem Israel.
For 40 years, she devoted her time to family and building a successful business. Never losing the need to express herself through art, she finally turned her full attention to developing her own identification in her chosen fields of art.
In the last 10 years, she has been focusing on Fused glass and creating her own unique line of glass art. Teaching people how to tap into their imagination is her goal. Watching their happy expression with their finished projects is her gratification

Lori Kane
Operations Manager / Head Potter
With 30 years of experience as a production potter and exhibitor, Lori has gained the respect of everyone who follows her work. She is truly a treasured member of the MIY Team.
Lori is best known for her unique style of combining shapes she has thrown on the wheel only to alter them into wonderful whimsical figurines that always brings on a smile. By adding quirky legs, feet, shoes, and fun colors to her pots, her special line of work is greatly sought after.
She has participated in many fine art shows around Florida, Las Olas and the Boca Fine Art shows to name a few. Because Lori is also a production potter, she can fill her display booths with not only her comical pieces but also a large selection of marvelous mugs, bowls, and vases.

Kaitlyn Coughran
Artist in residence
Kaitlyn has been an artist in residence at MIY Ceramics since 2016.
A native of Miami, she realized at an early age that she wanted to immerse herself in the field of art.
Following her dream, she attended the Design and Architecture Senior High of Miami. Continuing to Florida Atlantic University, Kaitlyn earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art with a concentration on graphic design and Ceramics.
Her scope of talents ranges from drawing and painting to sculpting and potter’s wheel and more. Kaitlyn, who struggles from bouts of anxiety, has learned turning to artwork can calm her mind, and help her focus. Keeping that in mind, she has a warm and encouraging approach to her teaching. This is a struggle that helps her in dealing with both adults and kids. She truly comprehends the benefits of creating something from nothing no matter what their artistic experience.

Jacqueline Oortman
Instructor/ artist
After graduating FAMO University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Jacquie went on to teaching different skills. She first focused on languages and classical music then moved on to her love of the creative arts. Working with clay became her passion while mosaics captured her imagination. Jacquie joined MIY Ceramics Studio in 2015 and continued to share her unique talent in hand building and mosaics. She is always looking to explore new and resourceful ways to create wonderfully innovative works of art.
Jacquie excels in communicating her extensive knowledge to her students as to how to create beautiful objects that are both decorative and useful.

CYNTHIA WARMUTH
A potter and substitute instructor at the MIY ceramics studio. Cindy, was born in International Falls, Minnesota, but her nomadic childhood led her to develop a love for books and a diverse array of subjects including biology, history, science fiction, mythology and fantasy. Cindy lived in Florida for over 40 years. While pursuing her childhood dream of becoming a scientist, Cindy found solace and passion in the world of art, particularly ceramics.
After retiring a few years ago, Cindy joined the MIY ceramics studio as a member for her birthday in 2021, and she primarily focuses on creating pottery on the wheel. However, her dedication and willingness to contribute extend beyond her personal projects as she happily assists in various capacities throughout the studio. With her heart deeply rooted in both science and art, Cindy's journey has been one of exploration, self-expression, and a lifelong pursuit of creativity.
