This course takes place on Thursday afternoons from 4:30pm-6pm for four consecutive weeks. This program is for children ages 11-14. Week 1: Ceramic Maze Board Using 1.5 pounds of clay, students will be able to: **Students will draw and plan maze before creating** * Create their own custom maze board from a slab * Create coils and use them to form walls and other accessories on their boards * Understand how to attach clay to clay using the score and slip method * Create balls to use for their maze board * Glaze their projects Week 2: Mosaic Tile Using 1.5 pounds of clay, students will be able to: Students will carve out an image and the carved out areas will be grouted after painting * Create their own custom mosaic picture using a slab * Learn carving techniques to create the image on their slab **images will be pre-drawn on paper** * Glaze their projects Week 3: Glass Fused Sun Catchers w/ Hook Using a 3x5 inch clear rectangle sheet of glass, students will be able to: * Create a custom suncatcher using pre-cut glass pieces * Understand how to create and apply glass pieces to create their own image * Understand what full fuse and tack fuse means with glass fusing * Learn the different types of glass used in glass fusing Week 4: Wheel Throwing a Bowl Using 1-1.5 pounds of clay, students will be able to: * Understand the 5 stages of wheel throwing (centering, drilling, opening the floor, pulling and shaping) * Glaze their projects
