This workshop will cover over 6 ways to create lids for ceramic vessels. Whether you're just learning how to throw a jar, or you're a veteran maker looking to refine your teapots, making a quality lid is an essential part of the process. In this workshop we will cover: -How to throw a vessel that is properly suited for a lid -6 different ways to create lids for any ceramic vessel -How to use calipers to make lids that fit snugly -The impact of clay shrinkage on the measuring process -Basics of tap centering and water sealing to trim vessels and lids. -Using silicon carbide to refine lids post firing Materials: Bring your normal throwing tools, with calipers if you have them. A torch is helpful as well.
